Windows 2000 Accounts

PIC Lab

Your Windows account is the one you use to log in to the PCs in the lab and do most things. The UNIX account gives you an e-mail account (different from your Bruin Online e-mail) and access to UNIX (some classes require this).

Logging into your Windows 2000 Account for the first time

If you are enrolled in a class which requires a PIC account, it will automatically be created for you in at most a day after you are officially enrolled in the class (and are not wait-listed). To log into your Windows account for the first time, type in your username and use your 9-digit student number as password. (Make sure it says "PIC" for "Domain:"). Your username should be your Bruin OnLine username or your first initial/last name (try in that order). If it's not one of these, see a lab assistant who can look up your username for you.

On your first login the computer will prompt you to change your password. We recommend choosing a password that consists of both letters and numbers and is at least 8 characters long.

If you had an account last quarter, it probably still exists so try logging in with your old password. Note that accounts are deleted over the summer if you did not take a class then. If you truly forgot your password, you'll have to go up to the Bugs office in MS 6121. The hours are Mon-Fri 10am-12pm and 2pm-4pm.
